• Newcombs Wildflower Guide- by Lawrence Newcomb - This guide has an incredible three key system to identifying wild flowers. It is very easy and therefore perfect for an beginner botanist!
  
• The Peterson Field Guides- These guides cover a wide variety of topics ranging from identifying Trees and Shrubs to Identifying Birds. You can also find versions about medicinal or edible plants. They contain wonderful pictures and descriptions of the species.
  
• Wildflowers and Winter Weeds- by Lauren Brown- This book is great for identifying plants in the winter. It also gives fun descriptions and stories about the plant.
  
• The Field Guide to Medicinal Wild Plants- by Bradford Angier- After you have identified the plant, this book has great information about the medical uses of the past and present.
