Suggestions regarding downloading

Most browsers will allow you to download multiple files simultaneously -- meaning you can initiate multiple downloads rather than waiting for one to finish before starting the next.

The file naming system has been changed starting with Klenengan #5, so that all files names will be unique. You will no longer need to worry about which version of Jn. Uler Kembang you are looking at or listening to, and new files will not replace old files. The new naming system also has the advantage of listing files in order, when viewed as a list sorted by title. The file name now consists of:

  • the date (in the format yymmdd, or 011118 for 18 November 2001)
  • the "track" order
  • the title, or part of the title, of the first or principle piece
  • the extension mp3

So, for example, the file name for Gd. Tejakatong, which was played on 8 December 2001, preceded by the bawa Padmakusuma, and is the seventh "track," is <011208_07_tejakatong.mp3>.

New to MP3s?

MP3 files can be played on either a computer (using MP3 player software) or on a portable MP3 player. There are also some multifunction CD/DVD decks which will play MP3 CDs. However, if you wish to listen to these files on a regular audio CD player, you will need software that will convert MP3s to the appropriate format (such as AIFF) and burn them to a CD (using a CD burner). Macintosh users can use iTunes, which is free and very easy to use.
